George Brimfield was born in Norton Canon, Herefordshire in 1867. In the 1871 census he was living with his grandparents, and their daughter, who is clearly his mother. All have the same surname.
By 1881 his mother Caroline Brimfield had married James Thomas, a farm labourer, and was living with her son in Staunton on Wye.
In 1891 he was living on his own in Little London, Staunton on Wye and was working as an agricultural labourer.
He married Frances Ellen (Nellie) Williams in 1895, and by 1901 they were living in Eardisley with their first four children. George was now a bricklayer's labourer.
Before 1911 they had made their last move to Winforton, where George became an estate mason, a significant step above labouring.
George died in 1950, and was buried in Winforton. Nellie died in 1967, and was buried with her husband and two of their nine children.
George gave one song to Ella Leather, the Bitter Withy, which she passed onto Frank Sidgewick.
